King in the North: Kyle Lowry Checked Into The Game After 19,000 Fans Were Chanting His Name, Gets Massive Ovation In What Was Likely His Last Time Playing In Toronto
This is it. This is the dream of every single athlete. From the days when you were just a little kid playing at the park, you dream about one day being a professional athlete, and having the entire arena chanting your name.
And nobody deserves to have 20 thousand fans showering him with love more than Kyle Lowry deserves that moment in Toronto. He spent 8.5 seasons in Toronto, and he was an all-star in 6 of them. He helped bring that organization their first and only championship. And most importantly--the style of play. That gritty, never satisfied, always giving full effort attitude he had to grow up with to make sure he made it out of North Philly. Kyle Lowry made the Raptors who they were for a decade, and last night he got a chance to step on that floor for the last time.
I mean, sure, it's Canada. So a standing ovation in Canada is only worth like...ass still slightly hovering over your seat ovation in America. But still. It's an awesome moment for Kyle Lowry. And hopefully it's a moment that inspires guys like Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe to want that for themselves one day.
Oh, and aside from all the Kyle Lowry stuff last night....JOEL EMBIID IS SO BACK.
Turning back that clocks with that dunk. We haven't seen the big fella fly through the air like that in forever.
