As I fast approach 70, I'm not sure how many more trips around the sun I'll get. So, when it comes to football and my favorite team, now's the time for them to win. Not next year, or the year after. Now.

The New England Patriots under Mike Vrabel have the rare opportunity to turn back-to-back 4-13 seasons under Bill Belichick and Jerod Mayo into a Super Bowl Championship. And not to sound like a greedy fan, but I want it now!

Playoff football is all about defense, and the Patriots upped that part of their game not a moment too soon. Justin Herbert will be spending the better part of the next two weeks on a trainer's table trying to recover from an onslaught that was reminiscent of Patriots defenses of years past.

Sure, it was alarming to watch #10 fail to protect the football in critical situations, but his timely passing and runs more than made up for that. The good news is he's more than capable of playing better. And he will.

It could be that the run game wasn't what we all expected, but the good news is they're more than capable of playing better, too. And they will.

This is a team of destiny, currently 15-3. If it's true that "you are what your record says you are," then the 2025 New England Patriots are a damn good football team that, under Mike Vrabel, will continue to play better and find ways to win…
