The Final Play Of The Eagles Season Showed You Everything You Needed to Know About That Disastrous Shit Show Of A Year In Philly

The offense was complete and total dog shit all season long. But this is a group that went on one of the most dominant runs we've ever seen during the playoffs last year. Deep down inside, everybody knew the truth about this offense. That they are exactly who they've shown us they are since week 1 against Dallas. They are never on the same page, they lack creativity in their play design, and they can't find a way to make a play when they need it the most. We saw it week 1 against Dallas, and we've seen it every single week since then. There was no reason to ever believe this offense could magically flip a switch to turn things around. But we're all fucking idiots, so we tried to convince ourselves that maybe they were just saving their best stuff for the playoffs.
The season is on the line, and THIS was the best stuff they've been saving for a moment like this?
Not a single option for Jalen Hurts to work with. There's nowhere to go with that ball because there was never going to be an open receiver. Never.
Now I'm fine with just telling AJ Brown to go on that play. Get him as far away from the action as possible, because he had the worst performance of his career last night. But sending AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith to both run onto I-95, just so you can have Goedert and Dotson run directly into each other? THAT'S the play that Kevin Patullo and Nick Sirianni spent all year cooking up just in case they ever found themselves in a position where they needed a play to keep the season alive?
No. It's not. Because it's clear after watching that timeout that they never actually had anything prepared for a moment like this.

Biggest moment of the year, and Kevin Patullo is looking at that playsheet like it's the first time it's ever been in his hands. He looks off to Nick Sirianni for guidance and assurance. He just holds a blank stare during the whole timeout because he doesn't have a clue what's going on either. Jalen is shocked by what he's hearing, but he knows that it's out of his hands.
Literally everything that was wrong about this Eagles team was right there in that timeout. An incompetent offensive coordinator. A clueless head coach who put him there in the first place. And a quarterback who, unfortunately, hasn't done enough this season for his input to have any priority when it comes to decision making.
Sirianni, Patullo, and Hurts obviously do not work together as a trio. That has been evident since the very beginning. One of them, at the very least, cannot be here next year. I think it's at least exploring the idea that two of them aren't here next year. But the first to go has to be the easiest decision that Jeffrey Lurie and Howie Roseman have ever had to make.
Horrific hires deserve horrific consequences. The Eagles just got everything they deserved when they let Nick Sirianni promote his buddy to run this offense instead of making an outside hire like an actual football team.
