After an Extended Absence, Patriots Playoff Hype Videos are BACK, and They Are as Spectacular as Ever

Lord a-mighty, how I've missed these over the past few years. I suppose there were a few during the 2021 season. But that trip to Buffalo felt like the Patriots were cattle being led into a slaughterhouse, no matter what Massholes with YouTube channels might have come up with hoping to convince ourselves otherwise.

The fact remains, this has been a dormant art form in the region since 2018. A form of creative expression that had become a thing of the distant past, like calligraphy, Spirograph, or Mr. Potato Head. But the Patriots have brought it back. And proven they haven't lost their touch. Whoever on their staff puts these together, they're proving to still be a master of the genre. Adding new style and flair to their repertoire like a Scorsese or a Nolan.

I mean, it's all there. The salt-of-the-earth Massholes. The legends, past and present, from Drake Maye and Stefon Diggs, who by all accounts is the genius behind "We All We Got, We All We Need," to Andre Tippett, Randy Moss, Julian Edelman, Devin McCourty, Tedy Bruschi. And just to make the point that this is still the City of Champions, Jaylen Brown and Jason Tatum. Making Certified Fresh on ThornTomatoes [tm].

The Pats' media staff have perfected the craft of creating these videos. But they are not the only ones pumping them out. With mere hours to go before kickoff, let's enjoy the fan-produced ones before the NFL's Ministry of Propaganda and Public Enlightenment kick their digital doors in and tear them down off YouTube. Have fun with these while you can, until they're just black rectangles with "copyright violation" notices:

The deft use of slo-mo to establish tone. Then the perfect emotional shift at the 0:45 mark. This is the essence of a great hype video:

Clips of the media doubting everything they did in the offseason? Questioning their integrity? Predicting doom? Then being proven wrong? This is peak Dynasty-era stuff. And the use of John Williams' "Duel of the Fates" from Phantom Menace? Chef's kiss:

The warning at the beginning and the voiceover narration make this one:

I like this one for the deft use of the sad days of Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe, then the mood swing with Big Papi's grand slam and the Celtics' 18th banner, followed by old Mike Vrabel highlights:

At just 0:58 long, this one is almost a teaser trailer for an upcoming film. Short, and very sweet:

And speaking of sweet, let's finish with After Bakemas:

Here's hoping for a few more weeks of these. Now let's fooking go. Kickoff can't come soon enough.
