Trevor Zegras Is A Superstar, And He Completely Buried The Ducks In His First Game Against His Former Team
You never want to be the guy who loses a breakup. If someone breaks your heart, it then becomes your mission to break their soul. To make them feel like the biggest dumbass on the planet for thinking they didn't need you in their life anymore. Which is exactly what Trevor Zegras did last night to the Anaheim Ducks as he torched his former team.
I'm sure for a while there, Trevor Zegras thought that he'd spend his entire career with the Anaheim Ducks. He was the face of their franchise for a while there while the team was floating around in obscurity. You have an idea in your head about how your career is going to play out, but then one day it all flips on its head. After a couple of injuries derailed his offensive production, the Anaheim Ducks made the shocking decision to move on from Trevor Zegras. They threw him out on the street like a piece of trash. And to make matters worse, the breakup was hardly any better than a text. Zegras said it was the quickest phone call of his life. They traded him to Philly, gave him a call to tell him the trade was made, and immediately hung up.
Cold world.
But ever since coming to Philly, all Trevor Zegras has done is be an absolute stallion. He has 41 points in 41 games. Last night he scored goals 16 and 17 on the year, both in the 1st period.
Now, sure, the Ducks have a few guys who are right around that point-per-game pace right now. Leo Carlsson, Troy Terry, and Cutter Gauthier are all having big years. But point-per-game guys don't just grow on trees. And Trevor Zegras made sure the Ducks realized last night what a bunch of sad, pathetic, dumbass losers they were for moving on from him so quickly.
What a legend. He's found his new home in Philly, has been playing like a goddamn superstar, has the Flyers currently sitting in 3rd place in the Metro, and it looks like getting out of Anaheim was the greatest thing to ever happen to him. That's how you win a breakup.
