Raiders Doing Raiders Things - Fired Pete Carroll After One Year, Reports Already Out That There Was A Ton Of Dysfunction In The Organization
I'm not making fun of the Raiders for firing Pete Carroll after one year. I mean, it was bad. They were unwatchable and to the point where I basically felt bad for Ashton Jeanty. The dude was supposed to be a good running back and he had numerous games where he had more yards after contact than total yards. Yeah, I know how that sounds, it's also real. That offensive line was a shitshow to where Jeanty basically got hit behind the line so many times he was lucky to get a yard or two.
Throw in the Maxx Crosby situation, Geno Smith being a bad quarterback and finally trading Jakobi Meyers and you get a bad team. That's a team that's worth the number 1 pick. But this is what the Raiders do. They fire coaches immediately, then reports come out that there was dysfunction. Who could have saw that coming?
Even in those fired tweets you get stories about how Carroll didn't want to hire Chip Kelly, the team didn't agree on anything. It's not even shocking at this point, it's just who the Raiders are. You know some teams have certain stereotypes or stories constantly coming out. It's there for a reason. There's a reason the 49ers are always good. There's a reason the Dolphins suck. You can go team by team and you basically know what you're going to get.
I'm starting to think the Raiders are just addicted to coaching searches. The last coach to last 4 full years at the Raiders is Jon Gruden from 1998-2001. It's honestly hilarious to see how many 1.5 year coaches they have. Either way, Big Cat is right. We all need to forget that Pete Carroll coached the Raiders.
Say what you want about him but he coached one of the most fun and legendary college teams of our lifetime. He was damn good with the Seahawks and Legion of Boom. That's where his career ended. He'll get lost in the list of coaches with the Raiders anyways.
