Patriotism Gone Wrong – Pre-Game Skydiver at The Armed Forced Bowl Landed in The Field Goal Netting

No parachutists or fans were seriously injured in the making of the Armed Forces Bowl pre-game festivities. The member of the All Veteran Group Paratrooper Team who landed in the field goal netting walked off under his own power. Only egos were damaged.

Tough week for pre-game military related festivities. Well, not really. The Rose Bowl's pre-game flyover was merely delayed due to weather, and went off without a hitch at halftime.

But I was at the Rose Bowl. Sitting right underneath the scoreboard on the side of the stadium where the B2 Stealth Bomber entered. I thought I was about to get a sick video of it too. But apparently somebody a few rows behind me was trying to do the same thing, and lost his footing while looking up at the sky. He fell forward, taking multiple people behind me down with him, including a small child. The small child was crying. It was quite the scene. So in my very small section of the Rose Bowl (11H, approx. rows 47-51), the patriotic festivities resulted in a minor disaster. I still got an ok video out of it though, despite a man tumbling into by back mid-filming. Kinda mad at myself for not turning around and getting the chaos behind me on camera.

Anyways… aside from that very personal example, The Armed Forces Bowl parachuter landing in a net marks the worst dropping-from-sky-into-stadium disaster since Jaxson de Ville got stuck on his bungee cord above EverBank Stadium.

That's probably not true, but no other dropping-from-sky-into-stadium-disasters come to mind. Actually, after doing a little Googling (one search), I found an example on Reddit from a soccer game in Honduras where the skydivers missed the field entirely. At least the Armed Veteran Group didn't have one of their men (or women) land in a toilet.
