Steve Kerr Suggesting It's Delusional To Think The Warriors Can Compete With The Spurs And Thunder Is Some Extreme Loser Shit

To put it nicely, things haven't exactly been all that great so far this season for the Golden State Warriors. They sit at 18-17 and in 8th place in the West, they're 5-5 over their last 10 which has them 3.5 games out of a top 6 seed. Add in all the bullshit surrounding Jonathan Kuminga, Draymond doing Draymond things and how old and slow their roster looks at the moment, it's safe to say things aren't great.

Given the post-Jimmy Butler trade run and how the Warriors looked down the stretch before Steph got hurt last year in the playoffs, this was supposed to be a great year for the Warriors. Butler was around for a full camp, Steph was healthy, they added NBA Champion and Knight Al Horford, and Vegas had them at around 47.5 wins, which was good enough for 6th in the West heading into the season. Through 35 games, the Warriors are on a 42 win pace. Not great!

If all that wasn't bad enough, you can now add Steve Kerr basically throwing in the towel for the next few years when it comes to the Warriors competing for titles, which might be one of the most insane things we've ever heard an active coach say, especially one that has STEPH CURRY on his team

I had to double and triple check that this wasn't A.I. because uhhhhhhh what? The whole point of what the Warriors have done the last few years is to extend their window and get Steph his 5th ring. Why are you trading for Jimmy Butler if you truly believe you can't contend for a title? Why are you holding onto Draymond? Why are you signing Horford? Why aren't you trading off all your assets to rebuild, since being stuck in the middle is the worst thing you could possibly do in the NBA?

It's just such a loser mentality to have I can't believe it's real. Throwing up your hands and being like

"welp, even though we have a generational talent in Steph Curry who is showing no signs of regression, we stand no chance these next few years!"

is borderline insane to hear from a head coach. And even if you think Kerr is right and the West is now being run for the foreseeable future by the Thunder and Spurs, you don't say this shit out loud! You bury that deep inside you and figure out how to win. How are the Warriors players supposed to feel after hearing this? Imagine Steph? I'd be bullshit. I can't remember the last time we had a coach "win now" team openly give up like this to the point where he calls it delusional to expect the Warriors to compete. Big times yikes.

If that's the case, then just rip the bandaid off and trade everyone. Let Steph go play somewhere where they are serious about competing. Trade Draymond and Butler for whatever you can get asset wise and just start over. Let Kerr walk off into the sunset and get a new voice in that locker room. How can you expect players to buy in and try when their own coach doesn't even believe in them?

Again, even if you believe this to be true, you absolutely can't say it out loud and you most definitely cannot say it to the media/on a podcast. YOU HAVE STEPH CURRY. As long as that is true, you can compete with anyone. Or at least you should have the mindset that you can compete with anyone and then do your part to make it happen. Day 1 stuff really.
