The Tank Is On: Giants TE Theo Johnson Was Ruled Out For The Season Finale Against The Cowboys For "Illness", But Showed Up To MSG Tonight Looking Healthier Than Ever

Listen, I don't know why NFL teams don't just embrace the tank. Sure, there may be fines attached if you're truly caught doing it like every other sport to protect the integrity or whatever, but after the Max Crosby situation in Las Vegas and now Theo Johnson, are we going to pretend that they're not just quiet tanking?

Everybody on Earth knows the Giants have to lose Sunday. A win could mean they drop from the 2nd overall pick at worst to the 7th, and two meaningless wins against the Raiders and Cowboys would royally fuck up their whole draft situation. Yeah, they're not going to be drafting a quarterback with those picks anyway but they're certainly more valuable on the trade market if you can get 1 or 2.

And I say everybody on Earth, but that doesn't include John Mara, who said everybody's getting fired if they tried to tank last year:

Well, he's still standing on that side of the grass and the Giants have the potential to mess that up really badly Sunday. But Theo Johnson was ruled out for an illness after not practicing all week, but not enough to miss the Knicks lose to the Atlanta Hawks tonight.

You take one good look at him and tell me if that's a guy healthy enough to play a football game. I'm not a doctor but my best guess is it is. Anyway, it would be a real shame for Giants haters if a bunch of players came down with a mystery illness tomorrow and had to be added to the injury report. Heard the flu is circulating around wherever *checks notes* Jaxson Dart, Brian Burns, and Dexter Lawrence happen to live.

Good luck out there Giants fans.
