Drake Maye Pushed Back On The Narrative That The Patriots Have Had An Easy Schdule, Saying "It's Not Like We're Playing Foxboro High". And Now Foxboro High, and The Internet Are Trying To Make The Matchup Happen Next Season

For a guy who's only been here a couple years, Drake Maye sure has aced his Patriots History 101 and 102 level courses with flying colors.

Non-New Englanders are commenting on the twitter cesspool that this was "an unfair low blow" to Foxboro High. And that they didn't deserve to catch strays on this.

Meanwhile, anybody who's followed this team knows full well that Foxboro High School was Belichick's favorite go-to when he was ripping Brady to shreds in weekly film sessions.

So much in fact, that during Brady's roast, Julian Edelman brought the house down firing one of his own directly at Belichick-

Who could forget the amazing nickname Belichick coined for the imaginary player he always threatened to replace Brady with?

"Johnny Foxborough"

(If you're new here, Sports Illustrated did a great little piece a while back on the history of the name that's worth a read.)

As did the great Jerry Thornton, about how Gisele fucking HATED it-

But back to the story and the blog.

Well, the Foxboro Warriors responded, and extended an invite to the Pats to fill their week 1 scheduling hole next season if they're up for it.

And one of their coaches doubled down on it with a video shot in a snowstorm where the audio couldn't be worse if you tried.

So now I think Maye and the Pats are backed into a corner and have no choice but to show up for this game and play. You can't back down now. That will look like such a pussy move.

Obviously, the Pats will throttle them. But you know they'll still give up an opening drive TD to the Warriors like they do every week without fail, so at least it won't be a shutout.

Brian Hoyer actually likes the idea -

And make no mistake, The Warriors are no slouches. They've been to three state championships in a row (D5), and have one of the most respected and winningest head coaches in high school history in Jack Martinelli.

But real talk, I have a great idea. I think that at the very least, next summer at training camp, Vrabel and co. should have Martinelli bring his team out to the Dana-Farber Field House for a flag scrimmage or at least let them take some reps with the guys.

But flag only. No pads. We don't want a Marty situation on our hands.

p.s.- Maye is 1000% correct on his take. People knocking the Patriots for an easy schedule are fucking morons.

What do you want them to do? They don't choose who they play. They play who's in front of them. And they kick their asses.

Vegas had this team at a 7.5 win future before this season started. And they're about to finish 14-3. (With a brutal loss they choked away to Buffalo a few weeks ago, and 2 horrendous losses against the fucking Raiders, and Steelers in the first month of the year when Vrabel was still getting acclimated.)

Nobody expected this team to be competing for a fucking bye in the playoffs this season. We were hoping and praying they might be good enough to be above .500 and compete for a wildcard.

Anything compared to last season would be an improvement.

But now, we have the heir apparent to TB12, making a bid for his first MVP when I'm not even sure he's old enough to grow a beard. And the runaway coach of the year (yah I know Ben Johnson has done a stellar job too, but this is a Patriots blog.) AND the Patriots are soooooooo far ahead of schedule that the rest of the country has got to be shitting their pants.

They're playing with house money right now. This season has already been a massive massive success.

They have the most cap space in the entire NFL, and they have 12 picks in the draft next year. They're only going to get better.
