Daniel Jones Has Officially Been Ruled OUT For The Season With a Torn Achilles and The Indianapolis Colts Are Down to 1 Healthy-ish QB on Their Roster

Welp, it was fun while it lasted Colts fans. What a magical 10 week run it was. Really thought we might have something real there for a minute. Right when I was finally starting to trust Daniel Jones... right when I was finally coming around on him maybe being the Colts starting QB for the foreseeable furture... because it's hard to find a reliable quarterback in the NFL. I mean look what's happening to the Minnesota Vikings. Just because I can't necessarily picture Daniel Jones hoisting the Lombardi Trophy in my mind's eye, doesn't mean an unproven rookie is a better option. Who am I to look a surefire playoff team horse in the mouth? Maybe Daniel Jones with the Colts just works.

But then the Colts schedule got a little tougher. Then Daniel Jones started dealing with injuries. The Colts blew it against the Chiefs. They blew it against the Texans. Then Daniel Jones dropped back to pass on a rainy day in Jacksonville and his achilles snapped like a rubber band. Season over. Thanks for coming out, Colts.

Now the Colts are stuck in a situation where they have a veteran QB on a 1-year contract, who in a vacuum played more than well enough for them to commit to. At least for a couple more seasons. But at the same time... he's still Daniel Jones. Daniel Jones had a hell of the year with the Giants in a contract season, and it wound up setting their franchise back years. Sprinkle in a little torn achilles on top of the whole thing, and suddenly the Colts decision is a bit more of a decision. And even if it's not a decision, and the Colts plan to move forward with Daniel Jones regardless, the fans and organization aren't going to be nearly as confident going into Daniel Jones – Round 2 as it looked like we might be just a few weeks ago.

Oh, and Colts' next man up, Riley Leonard, who all things considered did show some promise last week, is now dealing with a leg injury of his own.

Which I suppose means the Colts have to find another quarterback. Even if only as a backup. I mean look at this shit.

How quickly the Colts reverted back to the saddest quarterback situation in the league. Right where everyone (incorrectly for a while) said we had at the beginning of the season. That "Cincinnati Bengals trade Joe Flacco to the Colts for a _ round pick" notification is going to hit like a stale raisin.
