Zach Ertz Took An Absolutely Brutal, Possibly Career Ending Hit To The Knee Yesterday

Just a really, really, really bad hit from Jay Ward there. Football is crazy, man. That entire play happens in 3 seconds. You have a lot of people saying it was a dirty hit, suspend him for the year. You also have a lot of people on the other side saying it's a hospital ball from Mariota, Ward was simply trying to make a football play. Which by the way, I think is such a cop-out these days. Not every ball thrown high is a "hospital ball". Just because a ball is high doesn't mean the defender can kill the receiver with the excuse of "hospital ball". The defender still needs to play correctly. This is simply not the correct way to tackle, head down, aiming for the legs. No amount of "hospital ball" changes that. I wish sports fans could be objective, even when it's their team committing the foul, but that will never ever happen.

Social media will have fans just yelling stuff like "HOSPITAL BALL" just because it was their team who did something. Let's use our heads one time, people.

But anyway, this shit is why the NFL is so brutal. Zach Ertz tried to make a play, Jay Ward's job is to stop him, they are the fastest and most athletic humans alive, and unfortunately in the NFL, a lot of plays end like that. In injury. And it fucking sucks.

And if you don't feel for Zach Ertz you're a soulless witch. An amazing NFL career, top 10 in TE catches, future HOFer. And now a torn ACL and at 35 years old, possibly the end of his career.

This is just another brutal injury in a long list of Commanders injuries this year. Hoping for the best for Ertz, it's possible Dan Quinn was wrong and jumped the gun, but it certainly doesn't look good. Hoping for the best for Ertz, who deserved to go out on his own terms, not like this.
