WOW: The CFP Committee Actually Did the Right Thing and Put Miami In Over Notre Dame

Holy cow, I can't believe this College Football Playoff committee actually did the right thing. I'm stunned.

For weeks, the committee has not only had Notre Dame ranked ahead of Miami, but was also pushing this bullshit narrative that a head-to-head result between teams only mattered if they were directly next to each other in the rankings — which the committee obviously creates, so they can rig this thing however they want. And then somehow after conference championship weekend, they didn't drop Alabama at all after a 21-point loss to Georgia, which put Miami and Notre Dame next to each other for the first time.

The way we got here based on the information the committee had been providing us for weeks is nearly as insane as the decision it seemed they were going to make, but justice was served in the end. Miami and Notre Dame played. Miami won. It was that simple the whole time.

I had an entire blog pre-written ready to shit on the committee for putting Notre Dame in, so we have to give them credit for doing the right thing in the end. You couldn't exclude the loser of the SEC Championship Game while other teams sat at home — not to mention pissing off one of your two major broadcast partners and potentially setting off a cataclysmic chain of events. So it was down to two teams for one spot.

We ended up in the right place. The games matter. ND needed to win just one of two early season games against the only two Playoff-caliber teams it faced and it couldn't get it done. And to be clear, I believe the Irish are absolutely one of the 12 best college football teams in America right now, and probably one of the best four or five. But you have to beat somebody.

Justice has prevailed.
