You want to know how to win over a fanbase in the SEC? Take a shot at your college football coach, especially if they just got fired. It's not a secret Auburn fans had enough of Hugh Freeze. And make no about it, this was a direct shot, not a ricochet, it was clean and direct.

You can't lose a press conference at Auburn by making fun of Hugh Freeze. I do think it's hilarious that Steven Pearl cracked the joke after everything that happened. If they lost to Bethune Cookman it would have been hell for him in that press conference. Auburn basketball is expected to win games and compete for Final Fours. That's what Bruce Pearl at least turned them into. I think everyone who watched college basketball was shocked that Steven Pearl got a 5-year deal right out of the gate. But, hey, you win at any point, you can make fun of Hugh Freeze. Fair play all around.
