Cam Young Just Had An All-Time Ryder Cup Debut And Now He Must Play Saturday Morning For Team USA

"I just sat back and enjoyed the show."

That was Justin Thomas on USA Network (yes, they do take a few minutes away from commercials to show some golf), just a few minutes after he and Cam Young disposed of Ludvig Åberg and Rasmus Højgaard 6 & 5, Friday afternoon at Bethpage Black.

JT spoke for all of us watching on Friday.

What a performance from the Ryder Cup rookie Young. He hit 9 of 11 fairways. He hit 12 of 13 greens. He was a putting machine.

He set the tone with an absolute bomb on his first Ryder Cup tee shot.

An early birdie on No. 2 gave Team USA some much-needed momentum.

Another birdie on No. 9 gave put Young/Thomas 3UP, and they'd never look back.

His +2.31 Strokes Gained was No. 1 in the field among all players Friday afternoon, late into play. The 6 & 5 wins tie for the second-largest margin of victory in a Ryder Cup fourball match.

Young had a great season. He's a New York guy. He loves the course. And he just gave Team USA some Friday afternoon life.

Team USA got smoked on Friday morning. It really felt like Europe had out-classed Team USA for much of the day. We'll see where we stand Friday Night, but Cam Young showed up and put on an all-time rookie performance in an event where the stakes are at their highest.

Keegan Bradley HAS to play him Saturday morning. And if he plays him in the first group, fine with me.
