'Am I Happy Here? It's A Job. I Can Be Happy Anywhere' - Jakobi Meyers Sounds Thrilled The Raiders Turned Down His Request To Get Traded
We're just over a week removed from Jakobi Meyers reportedly demanding a trade from the Raiders. It's been quiet since then because the Raiders just said no:
Love it. You can demand a trade, ask for more money, any of that stuff and the Raiders and this new era with Pete Carroll will just tell you no. Don't get me wrong, Jakobi Meyers would make a great Giant, not a Patriot, but I actually respect Meyers answer here. He's honest, he said he'll go play and do whatever the team needs him to. He's at least saying the right stuff before the season starts.
That said, if you can't laugh at the 'am I happy here?' It's a job' line, I don't want to know you. It's the ultimate, what do you want me to say here? Ever have a significant other ask you if you're happy or love them type deal and you just respond with the 'well, we're together'? This is the football version of that question. It's smart the way Jakobi phrased it but come on, this is the most obvious I still want to get traded line outside of doing situps in his driveway.
PS: As I was blogging this, this news broke.
Hell of a time in Vegas. I actually think Pete Carroll is making smart decisions and they should be more competitive just with the coaching move, but still hilarious to have this be your wide receiver room in one day.
