I don't think anyone is saying that Viktor Hovland's read won the US Open for J.J. Spaun, but it didn't hurt. He had two putts from 64-feet to win and we know what happened:  It sure as hell didn't hurt having Hovland putt before him on the same line and give him a read on how hard he had to hit it.
