The Dodgers Mega Team Got Even More Ridiculous Earlier Today After Adding Depth Bullpen Piece Kirby Yates, Who Just So Happens To Be One Of The Best Closers In Baseball

We're just a few days removed from the Dodgers landing prized free agent closer Tanner Scott and further strengthening their own super team. Blake Snell, Roki Sasaki, Hyeseong Kim, and Michael Conforto weren't enough external additions to a World Series championship team, here's a premier closer in Tanner Scott. Well, turns out they're not done. Kirby Yates, come on down!
Yates' addition was announced after Scott's, making him seem like a throwaway depth piece. In reality he was one of the best relievers in baseball last year.
The Dodgers are so good now that people are just signing with them for the ride at this point. Legitimate good players, passing on other lucrative opportunities just to join the machine and dominate. The soon-to-be 38 year old late inning reliever has amassed just one inning in the postseason in his career. Assuming he stays healthy that number will surely increase.
This gives the Dodgers a pen consisting of names like Scott, Yates, Kopech, Treinen, Vesia and Phillips. That group will pair with a rotation that includes Blake Snell, Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Tyler Glasnow, and Roki Sasaki. If any of them get hurt they'll have Dustin May, Tony Gonsolin, rand Bobby Miller to help out. It's fucking ridiculous.
What the fuck are the rest of the teams in the league doing? At some point do we blame the players too? Manfred? An evil spirit? You can't tell me Kirby Yates had zero other suitors out there. It's rumored Tanner Scott took less with LA than others were offering. But also how are you gonna blame Yates at this stage in his career for chasing postseason experience and a ring? As I mentioned in my blog the other day, this all started with Ohtani deferring all but $2M a year in his contract. The moment that happened you could no longer put the genie back in the bottle. A dynasty was born that won't be stopped for years to come. They're that good.
Here's my question. Where the fuck are the Dodgers finding the roster spots for all these guys? You can only carry 26 on the active roster and 40 total. I'm not a numbers guy, but this feels like too many people. It's legit overwhelming to think how this team struggles at all. There are too many good players where injuries can't even mathematically derail them anymore.
Obviously if you're an AL team, that shit is wide open while on the flip side the Mets have endless pockets, but let's say you're a Diamondbacks, Giants, or Padres fan. What's even the point? You have no shot at the division barring a miracle season that only comes around once every 15 years. Even then, really bad things would have to happen to the Dodgers. Yes it's baseball and anything can happen, but not really here. The Dodgers will have the NL West wrapped up every year by August 15th and there's nothing you can do about it. Maybe Trump steps in and passes some law to fix this shit, otherwise the rest of us are up against it and then some.
