Question Of The Day - How Poor Am I For Still Owning An X-Box 360?

Madden release day is the toughest day of the year for one reason and one reason only. I, Big Cat, in the year 2015, still own an X-Box 360. If I had to pinpoint when the shame began it was probably about a year ago when I waltzed into Best Buy seemingly unaware of the advancements in technology only to accidentally buy a video game for XBox One instead of XBox 360. Then it got worse, then I started to notice the commercials where video games looked crystal clear and beautiful and I would say to myself “Hey, my games never look like that!” only to glance over at my poor little 360 sitting on the shelf looking pathetic and outdated. Here’s the issue though, I don’t game enough to justify a change but I also hate being the poor kid with the cheap outdated knock off. You ever walk into a GameStop and ask for an XBox 360 game? Absolutely mortifying.

*Sidenote, there is nothing more intidimating than the nerds at GameStop, it’s like bizarro world Revenge of the Nerds type shit, I know I could pummel those kids, I know I’m cooler and faster and stronger, but the second I step foot into a GameStop I feel inferior and basically become paralyzed with anxiety until I get back into the real world. Those motherfuckers have a spell on everyone that walks into their store, it’s unlike any other place I’ve been.*

So what do I do? I’m a loyal guy and my XBox 360 and I have been through a lot together. I think I purchased it back in 2006, even survived a red ring of death scare where I had to ship him back to the Microsoft offices to get it fixed. That may not mean anything to you guys but it means something to me. But at the same time I can’t be a blogger and an international man of couch sitting without the latest and greatest right? I’m a fraud if I don’t have the most up to date lazy boy tools at my disposal. Add in the fact that I’m getting old and video games, while not juvenile to me, are frowned upon by the rest of the “adult world” and I’m totally stuck. Do I buy an X-Box One in the cover of night when no one can see me? Do I purchase it online and never leave my house? (always the safest option). Or do I ride it out with the 360 forever and hope it becomes a hip retro item like N64. Just wait until the pendulum swings back my way no matter how long it takes. I feel like I’m not alone either, I feel like there a lot of us out there. The guys in their later 20’s/early 30’s who still love to play video games but don’t do it enough to justify buying a new system, new games, and all that jazz (I guess it’s only a little bit of jazz but you get it, we’re all lazy). So this is it, this is the official support group for 360 owner’s. All of you who feel shame today should know you are not alone. Don’t let GameStop or Best Buy bully you. We’ll buy a new system when we’re ready to do so and not a minute sooner which is most likely never.
