37-Year-Old Sidney Crosby Is Still Out There Dropping The Mitts And Fighting Kyle Connor To Get Anything Going For The Penguins

Sidney Crosby isn't exactly known for getting into fights. This is his 20th year in the NHL and last night was his 10th career fight. So when he does choose to fight, it's because he REALLY means it. Like last year when he fought Peyton Krebs for a hit on Kris Letang. Or in 2012 when he fought Claude Giroux because those two guys despised the shit out of each other on the ice. If Sidney Crosby drops the gloves and punches your skull, each one of those punches means something.

So welcome to the club, Kyle Connor.

Last night was probably the culmination of a few things. For starters, the Pittsburgh Penguins have been an absolutely dreadful hockey team through the first quarter of this season. They went into last night at 7-11-4, and sitting in last place in the Metro Division. Crosby isn't going to be happy playing on a piece of shit team like that. They haven't won a playoff series since 2018, and haven't made the playoffs in each of the past 2 seasons. Crosby isn't going to get "fed up" with the Penguins since he's too much of a hockey guy to hate his team, but he sure as shit is going to get frustrated out there.

So his fuse was already short, and that reverse hit from Kyle Connor was the one to finally cause him to blow. It wasn't the most violent reverse hit you'll ever see, but Crosby has done enough for the game where he's not expecting to get hit with too many of those. So he goes after Kyle Connor once, doesn't get a reaction, goes after him again and fishes his wish. It's go time.

Not the best fight by any stretch. That might have literally been Kyle Connor's first fight in the NHL. At least it was according to hockeyfights.com. Dude was too busy scoring 47 in '22 to fight. But 37-year-old Sidney Crosby dropping the gloves with anybody is automatically going to make it one of the best fights of the year. Because this man still wants it just as bad as he did 20 years ago. It's a shame to see him wasting the end of his career with this awful Penguins team, and you'd hope they would show some mercy to the man who has given them so much by trading him to a contender. But nobody in the world can say that Sidney Crosby doesn't care. If the old man in the locker room is the only one willing to provide a spark for the Penguins, then that's what he's gonna do.

Penguins still lost 4-1. Free Sid. Trade that man already.
