After Being Demoted To The Giants' QB4, Daniel Jones Has The Life Right Now

One of the best running gigs in the world is a fired coach in sports who had multiple years left on his deal. Jimbo Fisher is the actual king of the this. That man is sitting at home getting paid over $70M to NOT coach Texas A&M, and for good reason. Still makes for a great gig. Kliff Kingsbury signed a six year extension with the Arizona Cardinals before getting fired in the same year. He immediately booked a trip to Thailand and found a beach to relax in as the Brinks trucks pulled up at his house. I think Willie Taggert has three different teams paying him as we speak to not step foot in their facility. It's a life hack to be a sought after coach and just tank right away.

Well, Daniel Jones has found himself in this scenario. The Giants QB was officially benched this week and demoted to QB4. Hand up, I didn't know QB4 existed on a depth chart. In case you're unaware, the Giants front office is terrified of Jones injuring himself and activating a clause in his deal that would fuck them over for next year. As of now they can get out of his monstrosity of a contract once the 2024 season ends. If he's unable to pass a physical in the offseason, however, they're on the hook for an additional $23M. Jones has not only been removed as the team's starter, but he's been demoted to the Alex Moran role of the Giants aka THE LIFE.

What a dream! They won't let this guy touch a football. The team is probably worried he's even outside in that video. The Giants might as well tell Jones to stay home and just catch up on Outer Banks. All while he's getting paid the $36,000,000 he's owed this season. What a great few months this is going to be for Jones. No stress in the slightest besides wondering where to invest your tens of millions of dollars. Try out all the cool restaurants you've wanted to and have some late nights that would be otherwise impossible because you had to wake up and be the starting QB of an NFL team. No one on the team cares what he does now as long as he doesn't risk injury on a field. They had him chilling as scout team safety today.

I've seen people react to that clip saying they feel bad for him. Sure it's embarrassing to be cast away like this considering he won them a playoff game not too long ago, but the Giants are a dumpster fire and this is how the circumstances have played their way out with his deal. If anything the sympathy coming his way will actually make the situation even better for him. Now the Giants are going to appear like the bad guys for treating their once franchise QB like this. To his credit, Jones appears to be handling it all well and hasn't complained one bit. Then again, how could you?

Certainly helps when you're getting paid $36 MILLION to do legitimately nothing. Anthony Rendon at least has to fake an injury to get to this level of inactivity. The Giants are ordering him to do it. He'll take it easy and sign with a team in the offseason where more than likely he'll go onto to have some sort of success. Jones will get a fresh start as a backup for a good team and at some point find his way back onto a field with a talented offensive minded coach teaching him all sorts of helpful things. Or… he'll suck and still be filthy rich. Either way, the man has a great life right now and I'm jealous. You wanna feel bad for someone? Feel bad for Drew Lock who signed with the Giants because he was promised the number 2 job. He knew very well this Jones benching was going to happen and he'd have a bunch of games to do his thing. Somehow he got hopped over for DeVito. I'd turn into the Joker if I was Drew Lock.
