Incredible Clip Of New Zealand's MP Ripping Up a Bill And Leading A Haka In The Middle Of Parliament

Usually when it comes to politics I roll my eyes, regret wasting my time, and go back to scanning the sports world for anything of interest. This clip, however, stopped me in my tracks. If this happened in our Congress I'd pay more attention to important issues. That's how you stand up for your rights.

This blurb below gives you a little idea of the context.

(NDTV) A viral video of the vote on the Treaty Principles Bill shows the 22-year-old Te Pati Maori MP interrupting the session by tearing apart a copy of the legislation before performing a haka. She is then joined by the people in the public gallery, prompting Speaker Gerry Brownlee to briefly suspend the House.

The ACT New Zealand party, a junior partner in the country's centre-right coalition government, last week unveiled the bill, which seeks to change some of the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi - a move opposed by many Maori.

First signed in 1840 between the British Crown and more than 500 Maori chiefs, the Treaty lays down how the two parties agreed to govern. The interpretation of clauses in the document still guides legislation and policy today.

The bill, however, is seen by many Maori and their supporters as undermining the rights of the country's indigenous people, who make up around 20% of the population of 5.3 million

Here's another angle.

My eyes immediately fixated to the guy in the red tie sitting down. Made me think of those State of the Union's where half the room claps for the President while the other half sits there stonewalled. This guys just eats it up.

I mean look at this fucking guy. I wonder how often this happens because he's kinda giving off a look like "not this shit again." What a reaction. I'd be running for the hills if they just threw that me on a whim. This guy was ready and unfazed. The fact that he didn't crack at all is unsettling. I don't know how you can go back to the drawing board and one up the Haka.

I wonder how big an issue has to be to deploy the Haka. Like you can't do this for a parking ticket. Seems like this bill being introduced would piss off a ton of the indigenous people in the country. That forced them to go full Haka on their asses.

Maybe to push Cashman and Hal over the hill for Soto we need to get a bunch of Yankee fans to ambush them in LA before their meeting.
