I'm Not Fucking Leaving: Florida Man Lieutenant Dan Is STILL Staying On His Sailboat For The Category 5 Hurricane After The Tampa Mayor Wrongly Said He's Going To A Shelter

I wrote a blog about the lore of Lieutenant Dan, who has been the most viral story on the Internet ahead of the Category 5 Hurricane Milton that is expected to make landfall in Florida later today:

Since that blog, the story has gone even more viral which has caught the eye of journalists and even the Tampa police who were trying to force him to leave:

And the latest update we have is from an excellent boots-on-the-ground journalist Brian Entin who just talked to the Lieutenant of the Harbor Dan an hour ago..

And he ain't fucking leaving! Listen, I hope everything works out for Lieutenant Dan and he makes it out of this unscathed. A GoFundMe has already raised $20,000 and I assume he's gonna be a millionaire by the time he gets out of this storm if he can make it through. What was once just a man with his boat following the simple premise he lives his life by: "don't do stupid shit", may turn into one of the most heartwarming stories of the year.

They've even made crypto shitcoins for him that are already over $500,000 in market cap. It'd be journalistic malpractice for me to link it and you lose money investing in it, but you truly can't make this type of stuff up. I don't think anyone is getting through to Dan, not even the Tampa Mayor who said that if you choose to stay in an evacuation area, you are going to die:

You can't stop a man who is interviewed by a journalist and tells you “You’re all sheep, following the masses .. I do what I think is right.” For his safety, do I hope they somehow force him out of the boat and keep both him and his most prized belonging in good hands? Surely, but the latest update is that he's not leaving and we're only a few hours away from this potentially getting really really bad.

Stay safe out there.
