"It's Unfortunate People Can't Move On From Things From The Past" - Padres Manager Mike Shildt's Fantastic Response To Cry Baby Dave Roberts

I've been pretty clear how much I love the bad blood from the Padres and Dodgers NLDS. Game 2 was spicy and featured some mid 2000s Yankees-Red Sox hate. We need that shit back in our game. Something I didn't expect to come out of Game 2 was the Manny Machado "ball chuck" near the LA dugout. Apparently this is what caused Jack Flaherty to tell him off after a strikeout saying, "sit the fuck down, motherfucker."

After the game Flaherty said that outburst stemmed from Machado firing a ball into their dugout after warming up in the field. Dave Roberts later said it was unsettling and absolutely had intent. What could Manny have possibly done?

Well, last night we got video.

And today another angle!

Based on Flaherty's reaction and Roberts' comments, that Machado throw better have taken someone's head off in the dugout. The way Roberts reacted I assumed the ball had a picture of his family tied up. That video is legit CRAZY to get that up in arms about. You gotta know there are cameras everywhere and we'd easily be able to tell exactly what happened. That throw is absolutely nothing. Manny at the absolute most just trying to get under their skin a tiny bit. What are we doing here?

Padres manager Mike Shildt commented on the whole situation today in just about the most perfect way you could. He stood behind his star and said it was unfortunate people couldn't move on from things. This is a fucking manager.

You have no option but to move if you're the Dodgers after that response and everyone seeing the video.

How good does it feel for Padres players, their front office, and most importantly the fans that they have a guy like Shildt running the show now? Remember Jayce Tingler? That loser actually chose to defend the opponent Texas Rangers over Fernando Tatis Jr. because he hit a grand slam in a seven run game. I lost my goddamn mind when that all unfolded. Bob Melvin wasn't much better in letting distractions and other outside noise impact that clubhouse. Now they have a guy who will stand up for everyone on the team and not take any bullshit.

Game 3 gets going in a little bit. Muncy just gave a few quotes on how the Padres players try to get your their skin.

I don't think this hate is going anywhere. I'm expecting fireworks at Petco tonight.
