Cooper Manning Is Thankful That Arch Is Getting Playing Time This Season So His First Career Start Doesn't Have To Be At Ohio State In Week 1 Next Year

“Selfishly I kind of look ahead to next year. Texas goes… in their opening game they go to Ohio State, in the opening game. So selfishly, I’m glad that he had a few snaps and knows like what it is to start and play a little bit. Because going into Columbus for your first start of your life would probably not be the ideal opener, so I’m glad he has a little gray hair there.” — Cooper Manning

They say the Mannings are the most cerebral quarterbacks in the game for a reason! Thank God that Quinn Ewers got hurt, am I right Cooper? Kidding, kidding. That's not what he's saying. His point is extremely valid. Because if the Heisman contender had stayed healthy all year, Arch would just be getting the scraps in Texas' blowout wins. And while it would be fun for the Longhorns to make a long run and all, selfishly, it'll be tough to be the former #1 QB recruit in the country, leading a team coming off a playoff appearance, with all of these expectations on his shoulders with the last name, and having to head into a hostile environment Week 1 at THE Ohio State University. And potentially with this guy on the other sideline...

Okay, I probably didn't need to include the Urban gif. But if Ryan Day loses one more time at the end of November this year, that's another added hurdle that Arch Manning will see in Week 1 next year: The Return of the King. And all jokes aside, I do agree with Cooper that looking ahead down the road, it's very much a blessing for his son to get some true starter experience before going into a Top 10 place to play in the country against a Top 5 team in the country. So I have no issues with his statement, and neither should you. He's obviously not saying he's glad Quinn has been out, but it certainly helps Arch in the long haul to get a few starts this year. And I love that that's where the Mannnings mind is at. Thinking about the important things: long term success, planning, sustainability, and the Buckeyes.

…..and now I'll use the rest of this blog to get goosebumps about how fucking awesome is Week 1 going to be next season. Texas at Ohio State. Arguably the two biggest brands in the sport. Arch Manning vs. the defending National Champion Buckeyes. Gameday will be there. I'll be there. The whole world will be watching. Has to be a night game in the Shoe, no?

*And to the people saying Ohio State plays no one in the non-conference, think again. Everything got messed up with the conference realignment this year, but starting in 2025 with Texas coming to town, it's back to business as usual.

Texas, Bama, and Georgia all in the coming years? Iron Sharpens Iron. To be the best, you gotta beat the best. I can't fucking wait.
