Iowa's Star Running Back And Ohio Native, Kaleb Johnson, Says He Wouldn't Have Gone To Ohio State Even If They Would've Offered Him

So this Kaleb Johnson kid is apparently pretty good. This tweet is a few weeks old but it showcases about where he's at nationally in terms of stats for running backs. And as of last game, he now has 82 carries for 685 yards and 9 touchdowns on the season. I won't delve too far into the Murderer's Row of a schedule that Iowa has played thus far (Illinois State, Iowa State, Troy, and Minnesota) because I don't want to take any shine away from this kid or all he's accomplished this year. The last thing I want to do is write a blog that tears down anyone, especially an Ohio native that went to high school down in Hamilton.

Anyways, I know what you're thinking: why is one of the "best" running backs in the entire country, if he's from Ohio, playing on Saturdays for Iowa? Wouldn't Ohio State have wanted the services of their homegrown star? It may be easy to point out that the 3-star junior wasn't even offered by the Buckeyes, seeing as he was only the 52nd ranked running back in his class and that's about 51 too low for what Ohio State wants these days. But that's a tired take. The fact of the matter, according to Kaleb himself, is that he wouldn't have gone to Ohio State even if they did offer him a scholarship coming out of high school.

And I quote, "Even if they offered me, I would've have, like, went".

How many gifs in a row can I put before it becomes too much? Because I got about 50 lined up all centered around this kid lying his face off, giving Ohio State unneeded bulletin board material that Jim Knowles and the boys will be using to shut this kid down. But even more so than that....talk about one of the biggest lies ever told in world history! I'd list my current rankings at:

#3. Bill Clinton saying he didn't have sexual relations with that woman

#2. Adam and Eve saying they wouldn't touch the fruit

#1. Kaleb Johnson saying he wouldn't have accepted Ohio State's scholarship offer

And that's not an exaggeration. I've now watched that video no less than a hundred times and it still gets a chuckle out of me. Wouldn't have gone to Ohio State even if they offered me is such a hilarious thing to say that I'm wondering if he's trolling me and it's just going over my head. Let me tell you all something: every single kid that grows up in the great state of Ohio dreams of playing for the Buckeyes one day. It's just that 99.99999% of us never get offered, and the other 0.000001% accept on the spot. In fact, I'd bet a large amount of money that if Ryan Day called up this Kaleb kid any time in the next three days and says hey we got a spot for you now in Columbus, you'd see a new addition to the transfer portal. Or even if Kaleb goes for 100 yards and 2 TD in the first half Saturday (this is a hypothetical), Chip Kelly could get him to walk across the field and transfer mid game. Because the fact of the matter is that there's not a kid on that Iowa roster that would be suiting up in the black and yellow this weekend if they had the opportunity to play in the Scarlet and Gray.

Whatever, I don't care that much. I hope the kid has a good game for the sake of the fact that I haven't been able to watch a good Ohio State game all season. I'm assuming the Buckeyes win by 20+ but it'd be nice if Iowa put up a little bit of a fight and got us ready for the real test of Oregon next Saturday.
