MLB Sold An Exclusive Sponsorship For Playoff Helmets And People Are DISGUSTED

A lot of people are mad that MLB helmets have a double logo for the postseason. A lot of folks are upset the game keeps changing and now that applies to protective gear. Especially after such a disastrous uniform switch to Nike that had a lot of players complaining about stuff they typically don't complain about. Needless to say the 2024 season hasn't met public-aesthetic expectations.

What I don't understand is why people think this is a sign of societal collapse.

Don't get me wrong. It's vile and disgusting but isn't that the whole point of baseball sponsorships? Just go to Wrigley Field for 5 seconds. EVERYTHING IS SPONSORED. The hand sanitizer is even brought to you by Advocate Medical. There's a full blown exclusive deal for foil.

Yes, foil - the aluminum

And exclusive deals on garbage bags, fertilizer, community banking and commercial insurance. None of which have ANYTHING to do with Major League Baseball.

Watching the game at home? It's even worse.

How is anyone surprised at this point that MLB would sell out advertising space on helmets? It's not like some sacred line that can't be crossed without catching a four-seamer in the rib cage. These aren't Denny Neagle's unwritten rules forchrissakes. Don Drysdale isn't crawling out of the grave to give Manfred a buzz cut on the matter. It's actually in the ordinary course of business.

Probably most important though is that Strauss makes a good pair of work gloves amongst many other functional, blue collar products. Not like it's some cyptocurrency nobody reading this can afford to fuck up. It's a good brand with a loyal customer base that specializes in the working, common man.

Can't we at least agree that's better than identity theft protection? Is there any room to think "maybe it's not so fucking bad?" Honestly all people want to do is whine and bitch about Major League Baseball and at some point I have to draw the line and I pick handcrafted leather work gloves that hold up in colder temperatures without sacrificing digit-mobility.

That's my line and Strauss is on the right side historically. That's what you get with german-engineered workwear.
