Joe Burrow And The Expected Super Bowl Contender Bengals Have Started 0-2 For The Third Straight Season
It's a damn shame that there's no Bengals blogger at this company, meaning that the onus falls upon little ol' Ohios Tate to point this fact out to the readers. But I guess, according to the map, that Cincinnati does fall within the state boundaries? Even if their airport doesn't....
Anyways, the way this story goes is that the Bengals came into the season with a whole hell of a lot of hype behind them. In fact, from this nifty little screenshot I took before the season of the DraftKings Sportsbook, they were in the Top 5 teams most likely to win the Super Bowl.
Fast forward to now, where the Bengals have started off the season 0-2 for the third straight year, and they have dropped down to +1600 which is good enough for 9th. Folks, that's behind the Jets….
And obviously with the expanded playoff recently, the "teams that start 0-2 that have made the playoffs" mantra is not as deadly as it once was. But the stat still shows it's not good? Between 1990 and 2019, only 12% of teams that started 0-2 reached the playoffs. Now, since 2020, 11 teams started with an 0-2 record and none of those teams made the playoffs. And now we've got both the Bengals and the Ravens, two teams in the top 5 before the season started, sitting at 0-2.
Are the Steelers really about to win this division? No way, right? Their defense has been elite but my God their offense has been boring / bad. And between us, the Browns have looked like shit too. I'm actually going to head on over to DraftKings right now and check these odds for you because the two heavy favorites might have plus odds now?
Bengals +200
Ravens +210
Steelers +270
Browns +550
I'd consider that to be intriguing. All 4 look like great value bets.
