Football Adversity: Malik Willis Didn't Throw The Ball On 3rd Down Today Because Center Josh Myers Puked On It Right Before Snapping
Props to Malik Willis today. Got the start against the Colts in the Packers home opener and did a mighty fine job to secure the W. Matt LaFleur designed a great game plan to run the ball down Indy's throats and it worked incredibly well. Willis wasn't asked to do a whole lot, but when called upon to make a throw he got it done. That was except for a 3rd down situation where he just oddly kept the ball and got tackled short of the line to gain. LaFleur and fans watching at home were confused why he didn't throw the ball. Turns out it was because center Josh Myers threw up on it milliseconds before snapping it…
Better look here. More like the Green Bay Yakkers amirite? Alright that's enough
That's football right there. Full team effort today from Green Bay. Needed it with Love out but the whole team rallied together to take out the Colts. Got guys throwing up on footballs for crying out loud. That's guts folks, on the football and in spirit.
To Willis' credit, if I was hiked a football with puke on it I'm chucking that thing to the first person I see. Get that thing out of my hands. The LAST thing I'm doing is holding onto the puke ball for the duration of the play. Are we going to be punting or possibly turning it over? Oh yea, but in real time there's no way I'm securing the puked ball and trying to make magic happen. I''m succumbing to that adversity almost instantaneously. That's why I'm not in the NFL and Malik Willis is.
I for sure had my doubts about Willis, but they put him in a great position to excel today. Also helped that the Colts might have the worst run defense I've ever seen. That was much needed. Let's just avoid the puke on balls when Love returns next week please. Imagine the game was on the line, you needed a score, and the puke incident happens? Yeah don't need that. Gotta preach throwing up anywhere but ON THE FOOTBALL at practice this coming week.
P.S. Is it a penalty if a defender pukes on the ball on the line? Could be a tactic we use in the future.
