Football Guy: Miami (OH) Head Coach Chuck Martin Thinks We're A Step Away From Having Fake Players Because Of iPads On The Damn Sidelines
Hell yes, this is exactly what I want a mid-major college football coach to say. None of this embracing technology bullshit. That's how we end up with fake football players. I want to watch coaches coach. I want to see them adjust without the help of iPads because 9-year olds can do that. It's a damn near perfect rant mixed with jokes, hyperbole and complaints that he clearly has thought about for a long time. Man has been coaching in college football since 1992, you think someone like that is just going to embrace a change? Welcome to football.
On the other hand, yeah, just use the iPad. It's there as an advantage to help you despite every coach in the country having the same thing. You can still make adjustments and work on outcoaching the other team, that doesn't change. Shit, hire the 9-year old like you said. Have them tell you what they saw. We talk all the time about how NFL teams need to hire video game players on staff to help with basic timeouts, time management and going for it on 4th and short. That's basically what Chuck Martin is getting at here and he should now be one step ahead.
This little rant did get me excited for the season though. Forget the football aspect, some coach is going to lose their mind about the technology. Something is going to go wrong one game and we're going to get an I'm a man, I'm 40-esque rant. It's all I want now, as long as it's not Mark Stoops. I need like Biff Poggi in his cutoff shirt ranting about how the iPad cost him a game.
