Only Jameis Winston Can Work "Cicis Pizza" Into A Pregame Speech And Still Give You Chills
If you haven't clicked on the video yet, close your eyes as soon as you do so and try and guess what game the Browns are getting ready for. Because when I do that exercise, I figure it's either a big AFC North game, a home playoff game, or the Super Bowl. But nope.....it was at Seattle for the final preseason game. And the majority of our starters are sitting, making it perhaps the most meaningless game of the season. But that doesn't stop Jameis Winston, first ballot Hall of Fame pregame speech giver, from digging deep into his bag and getting the boys ready to play. Am I hearing one of these lines correctly?
Remember the time you played your best football game of your life (YESSIR!). Remember the time after that victory you went to Cici's Pizza and celebrated with the boys (OH YEAH!).
Some will call it corny but I call it hair on your arms raising. Jameis is out here talking to a bunch of grown ass men who play the game for money, and he's got them remembering back to when they were 12-18 years old, playing football for fun, hanging out with their guys after the game smashing all-you-can-eat pizza. And he wants them to recreate that feeling and make another game of memory.....in the preseason, at Seattle, in the middle of the night, with no one watching. Folks I'm ready to run through a brick wall right now and my walls are made of wood. What is he going to in two weeks when the games actually count? What is he going to do if we make the playoffs? What is he going to do if we make a Super Bowl?!
Listen I'm excited for the Browns this year as I think we have one of the best rosters in football, but that excitement pales in comparison to how eager I am to see what these speeches look like before actual games. What does Deshaun think of all this? Is this all fun and games until the (should be) leader of this team actually gets involved / plays? Or are we really trotting out our backup QB to give fiery pregame speeches just moments before kickoff? And then who talks at halftime? Deshaun goes out and throws 2 picks and the Browns are down 10 at the break against the Steelers. Does Jameis Winston stand up and say we gotta be better? Point being, I hope this season brings us plenty of wins, but with Jameis Winston on the roster, it will certainly give us plenty of memories....
If this whole NFL thing doesn't work out, Jameis Winston needs to sell pregame speeches to youth and high school coaches via cameo.
