The Indiana Fever's Title Odds Have Been Cut By More Than Half Just 6 Days After Dave Portnoy Bet Them To Win $10 Million

So unless you've been living under a rock for the last week, you already know that our esteemed boss here at Barstool Sports has decided to put his hard earned money where his mouth is regarding how good he thinks Caitlin Clark is at basketball. And unless you've been living under a rock for the last 8 months, you already know that Dave is on quite the heater when it comes to bets with big payouts. In 2024 alone, The Big Game Hunter has already taken home:

- $1.3 million from Scottie Scheffler winning The Masters

- $2.1 million from UConn winning March Madness

- $500K from the Chiefs winning the Super Bowl

- $500K from Washington in the Sugar Bowl

- $1 million from Michigan* beating Alabama

....and now he has $100K on the Indiana Fever to take home nearly double the rest of those winnings combined. He got them at 100/1 odds, meaning if the currently 7th seeded Fever do happen to win, he's bringing home ten fucking million dollars. Could you imagine? Forget the money, he's got that. But could you imagine if Dave called his shot ala Babe Ruth for Caitlin Clark to win a WNBA in her rookie season....and it hit? That would surpass Michael Burry shorting the housing market as the greatest bet of all time. 

But then again, it's a pipe dream, right? 100/1 odds, right? Wrong. The Fever came out HOT last night, shit pumping another higher seeded playoff team (and their 3 Olympians) 33-16 in the first quarter. And after Caitlin Clark's 29 point, 10 assist, 5 rebound performance to defeat Brittney Griner, Kahleah Copper, and Diana Taurasi....all of a sudden the Fever's odds have been cut by more than half.

Now THAT is notable. And listen, I know that the odds change has plenty to do with the substantial payout they would have to make if the Fever were to actually win, but doesn't it seem like Dave may have at least caught them with their pants down a little bit? 100/1 to 45/1 in literally 6 days? And his reasoning is solid: the Fever are playing better, Caitlin is rested for the first time in her professional career, and the Olympians have had no break. Plus the WNBA playoff format is only 3 game series in Round 1...and then Best of 5 in the final two rounds. The shorter the series, the better chance of an upset. 

I wonder if they keep playing well if DK will offer Dave a payout? I mean, only 8 teams make the playoffs and the Fever will be one of them. Think if they win a series and Dave's got a 100/1 bet on a team sitting in the Final Four. The hedge on the heaviest favorite could still pay him a million bucks!
