Ball State Freshman Hits Halfcourt Shot For Free Tuition, Goes Bananas

MUNCIE, Ind. – An incoming freshman has won free tuition for a semester at Ball State University after sinking a half-court shot.

Lem Turner of Illinois made the lucky shot Thursday night during a freshman pep rally for this year’s athletic events at Worthen Arena. The event was held as part of the school’s welcome festivities.

Wait free tuition for ONE semester? That’s some bullshit. So sick of these little half-prizes like one semester costs or 1 year of free textbooks. I’m a firm believer that if you’re going to host one of these contests you need to go all out with the prize – free tuition for your entire college career. All classes, room and board covered if you sink the halfcourt shot in front of the packed stadium.

On the flip side of course there needs to be a punishment too, like if you miss the shot it’s double tuition or double credit hours needed to graduate. You want to strut yourself on the court and make a big show of it and have the crowd go wild, gotta be some consequences to not coming through. Dire consequences.

But maybe that’s just me though, that’s just how I live, always on the edge. Always competing to the max. If people are happy with saving their parents a measly $12K that’s cool for them I guess.
