After Getting Fully Embarrassed By The Mets, Aaron Boone Applauded His Players For How Engaged They Were With The Game In The Later Innings

The Yankees got their asses handed to them last night as the Mets finished off a season series sweep of their crosstown rival. Gerrit Cole was ass, the lineup turtled, and the same old song continued to play. It was genuinely embarrassing to watch as a fan, but not all that surprising based on what we've watched transpire over the last two months. Since June 7th, only the White Sox have a worse record than the Yankees. Keep in mind the White Sox are FIFTY (50) games below .500 and have been dead since the first pitch of the season. That's not a tough stretch or a rut. To be that bad for that many games, that's just who you are — a poorly constructed team with a few star players thrown in to try and mask your problems.

After the 12-3 drubbing to the Mets last night Aaron Boone opted to go with a more fiery approach to his media session, using a few cuss words to express his anger. We didn't get a fist slam on the table, but this was the most animated and frustrated Boone has been all year. He still managed to give everyone a "right in front of us" line so our bingo boards could be satisfied.

I'd love to know what's right in front of us at this point. Is it every good team in the league? We're certainly not ahead of them. The man is a troll hired by the organization so they can laugh at us.

Somehow that wasn't the highlight of the presser though. No, that was when he credited the fellas for hanging in the dugout, pulling for one another in the late innings when the game was out of hand. How the guys were "hooked up" to the game and cheering on every swing, engaged with every pitch. That's what we've got to feel good about.

So now they're a little league team, going home feeling good about themselves for supporting each other. Even for Boone that's a next level spinzone of positivity. That's where we've fallen to. Can't get any outs. Can't hit the damn ball. No fundamentals. But they're locked in rooting themselves on as they get bludgeoned by every team in the league.

There's no serious pro sports team out there who would keep Boone as manager/coach at this point. Obviously he should have been gone years ago, but the fact that he's survived all this and is in the midst of another disaster collapse, it's asinine they haven't made a change. Have some balls and send a shockwave through that clubhouse. Sure they have bigger issues with the roster and Cashman, but right now that's a move that would do more good than bad. I ranted about it here.

It's crazy they're still only a game and a half out of first. How is that possible? The Orioles have somehow been worse than them since the 4th.

They deserve to be out of contention for the division and instead are still very much in the race. Boston failed to gain any ground this week after losing 2 of 3 in Colorado. Surely though they'll make up ground this weekend when the Yankees head to Fenway. I'm expecting a full on disaster series once that gets going. Stroman, Nestor, and Rodon? Sure they have the chance to do the funniest thing ever and show up, but realistically this is about to get even worse.

If only George was still alive, at least we'd have heads on sticks.

P.S. For anyone who watched the game on ESPN, how bad was that broadcast? Normally it sucks, but the audio levels were horrible. You could barely hear anything on the field. It was just the announcers and the stadium sound FX from the loud speakers. 0/10 experience.

P.P.S. For anyone thinking I'm excusing Cashman for the roster, you're wrong. He is the main problem. He needs to go before any of the real problems get fixed. The amount of guys he's put faith in over the years only to see them become complete duds is staggering. His employment gives new meaning to job security.
