Venting Blog: Quinn Ewers Still Calls Michigan "That Team Up North" While Kyle McCord Says They're "Just Another Game"
So this blog is for Ohio State fans eyes only. If you're not an Ohio State fan, I appreciate the click but you are free to go enjoy your Summer day. Because this is a topic that I understand 99.9% of our readers won't give a shit about, but I need to get something off my chest. Some people have to scream into their pillows when they're upset and some people have to open up their computer and type out the frustration. That's what I'm going to do here. Because we have Quinn Ewers, who literally picked up his NIL check in Columbus and immediately left, still is referring to Michigan as "That Team Up North". Meanwhile the QB1 of our actual team last year referred to Michigan as "just another game".
And you wonder why we lost to them? I should've known how the game was going to go right then and there. It's no coincidence that precisely the exact time Urban Meyer left due to health reasons and Ryan Day took over, Ohio State lost it's understanding of the rivalry. And after going 7-0 previously under Coach, and 9-1 before that under Tressel, Ryan Day is now 1-3. With equal or more talent every single year....
Listen, and I say this with the utmost seriousness, I could've been the QB throwing it to Marvin Harrison Jr and Emeka Egbuka or handing it off to Treveyon Henderson....pair that with the best defense in the country.....and we'd have been National Champions. It's really not that hard. But Kyle McCord couldn't do it? CJ Stroud could never do it? It makes no sense. The only thing I can pinpoint is the culture. They took it more serious than we did. They recruited Michigan guys and our Coach from New Hampshire got the best from all over the coasts, not factoring in the importance of having guys with Ohio blood inside the locker room walls.
Hopefully that changed after last November. Early signs are that it has at least a little bit....
At least we're saying the right things now publicly. I hope we're only focusing on 1 thing privately. This is not just a Make or Break Year for Ryan Day but for the University and the state as a whole. Win or shut it all down and annex the entire state to Michigan. It's that important this year.
** Does this mean Ohio State fans are allowed to claim Quinn Ewers now? I personally don't want him but then again if he wins the Heisman and then starts taking his NFL to Super Bowls like Joe Burrow, we may need to add him to the resume as well.
