Steve Kerr's Job With Team USA Is Less About The Xs and Os And More About Managing The E-G-Os

Listen I've been in coaching for 10 years of my life and I've heard all the cliche sayings. Started practice with some, ended practice with a few, used a couple in pregame speeches, one or two here and there with a referee. And when conversing with another coach, you use one in basically every other sentence. And one of my favorites has always been that "It's not the Xs and Os, it's the Jimmies and the Joes".

For those of you that don't speak Coach, that means that sometimes it just doesn't matter what plays you run and what schemes you use, at the end of the day, it's the talent of the players that win the games. And that's the phrase I thought Mark Titus was going to go with when discussing Team USA.

It makes sense.....it doesn't matter what Steve Kerr does with his roster of LeBron, KD, Steph, Embiid, AD, Jayson Tatum, etc etc etc etc etc etc......because the talent gap between the United States and everyone else in the field is too drastic. But then he hit me with a "It's not the Xs and the Os, it's dealing with the E-G-Os" and I realized he was right. The only way Team USA loses a game in this Olympics is if Steve Kerr worries more about feelings and reputations than winning games. Is he prepared to bench Embiid if needed? What if one of the legacy starters he's been playing gets outshined by Anthony Edwards? Are we going to platoon sub the entire tournament?

Other topics discussed:

- Is it better for Team USA that Anthony Davis stays with the 2nd Unit?

- Alex Sarr goes 0/15 in a Summer League Game

- Bronny James hit his first ever professional 3 pointer

- Is Cooper Flagg washed? This is AJ Bybantsa's league now in 3 years.
