You Are Crazy If You Think Last Night's Anthem Was Worse Than Roseanne Barr's Or Carl Lewis'

So last night's anthem was horrific. Like horrible, dreadful, brutal, bad, sucky and downright awful. And I know everyone has a recency bias to think things in the moment are the worst or the best thing ever, but taking some time to reflect, I have a hard stance. If you think last night's version was the worst ever you need a history lesson to some of the duds over the years, specifically two versions that growing up I always felt were without question the worst ever.

The first one I remembered as a kid being absolutely dreadful and downright disrespectful was Roseanne's

She's not even trying to sing. Absolutely horrific. If you don't think this was worse than last night you are a crazy person. On no planet does Ingrid Andress even come close to this atrocity and I won't hear differently. Roseanne is plugging her own ears for Christ sakes. Please. This is way worse.

And the creme de la creme of the worst of the worst, as well as the most iconic moments I remember of awful national anthems is Carl Lewis.

Part of the reason I remember this so vividly is Charlie Steiner's reaction to it and having a literal conniption from laughing so hard.

But either way, this is the gold medal of bad, and WAYYYYYY worse than last night's. I feel like the internet is so quick to jump to make something in the moment bigger than it is. And don't get me wrong last night was AWFUL, but for my money, Roseanne and Carl Lewis are the worst of the worst, and we can get close like last night but those two will always remain on the top of the list…well actually the bottom.
