BUILD HIM A STATUE: Jalen Brunson Agrees To A Four-Year, $156.5 Million Extension With The Knicks That Will Save The Team $113 Million And Give Them Financial Flexibility To Chase A Championship
Okay, truth be told I was being sarcastic with that headline because this contract must be a catastrophe for the Knicks considering how many people said Jalen's contract was an absolute disaster for the team when it was signed two years ago.
You can read some of these ball knowers in the reply to when the news broke.

#NeverForget
Obviously I am just kidding in order to roast the haters of my Lord and savior as their takes continue to gather ice on top of their freezer burned shell. Still, it feels weird that the Knicks waited to announce this glorious signing in the typical Friday news dump spot. I suppose the people running MSG are still getting used to making deals that are actually good instead of abject disasters.
Woj broke down the details of everything here:
It turns out having a Team President that actually knows what he is doing is very important, as is being the godfather of the face of your franchise that is everything you want in a superstar on and off the floor, not to mention said Team President's son being the agent for said face of the franchise. It also doesn't hurt to surround that player with his college teammates that won multiple national championships with him. For years, the Knicks felt like a hodge podge of ill fitting puzzle pieces jammed together with glue in between failed attempts to lure a superstar to New York. Now the Knicks feel like family. I truly cannot put into words how much of a change it feels like after covering this team the last decade at Barstool.
I also understand the people that say Jalen is cashing in on his extension today instead of a year from now since you never know what can happen to a small guard that just carried his team to an impressive postseason run (See: Isaiah Thomas). However, I can promise you if the Knicks didn't offer Brunson a max deal next year, there would be violence in the streets of New York. Or at least more than the normal amount of violence.
You guys want some more Brunson ball washing about how great this deal is for the Knicks? Good, me too!

Brunson may have left more than $100 million on the table, however I can PROMISE you he will make all that back with interest if he wins a championship for the Knicks. There is nothing worse than losing in New York. But there is also nothing better than winning. The 86 Mets are still eating off their championship from almost 40 years and Eli winning two Super Bowls in San Diego wouldn't have hit NEARLY as hard as they did in New York. Leading New York to its first NBA championship in more than 50 years on the one team that unites the city will end with statues, endorsements, and universal love from New Yorkers I don't think I've ever seen in my lifetime (Jeter and Mo would be at that level if millions of Mets fans didn't hate them).
Heroes get remembered but legends never die. Babe Ruth said that after becoming immortal in New York, so you know it's true!
