The Netherlands Clearly Don't Believe In Miracles, Refuse To Send Golfers To Olympics Because They Are Afraid They'll Stink Too Much

Golf Digest -- The LPGA Tour posted on Tuesday that Dewi Weber had qualified for the 2024 Summer Olympics, and that could have been the culmination of a dream for the Dutchwoman.

…despite being eligible for Paris, the Netherlands will not allow her to play. Her homeland had four golfers eligible—Anne van Dam being the other golfer on the women’s side, and Darius van Driel, Joost Luiten for the men—but because of the nation's separate qualification rules for golf, only van Dam will represent the Dutch.

…"Our own country is saying we don't think you're worthy of being an Olympian, and you're not worthy of representing the Netherlands," Weber told Golf Digest on Tuesday. "And that, honestly, that hurts. We even asked them, 'Hey, is this about money? Like, we will pay for it ourselves. Our Federation will pay for it.'

"And they said no, we just don't think you're worth it going to the Olympics. That is such a hurtful and sad message to send to elite athletes like us who have proven, according to the IOC and IGF standards, that we are worthy of doing that and we want nothing more than to represent our country and do all the things that the Olympics are about."

Listen…is Dewi Weber even close to as talented as Nelly Korda? Not at all. Are Darius van Driel and Joost Luiten ever going to be given a chance against Scottie Scheffler and Collin Morikawa? No way. At least not on paper.

But did the 1980 US Men's Olympic Hockey Team have a chicken dick's chance at taking down the Soviet Red Army? On paper, not a chance in hell. If they played them 10 times, the US loses 9.

All it takes is that one time. All it takes is one miracle. Dewi Weber, Darius van Driel, and Joost Luiten were born to be golfers. They were born to be at the Olympics. Nelly Korda and Scottie Scheffler's time? It's done. It's over. I'm sick and tired of hearing about what great golfers the Americans have. Screw 'em. This is their' time, but the Dutch Sports Federation are too big of cowards to send them to Paris.

What's crazy is that it's not even about the money. It would be embarrassing as shit if the Netherlands couldn't find it in their budget to send 3 more golfers to Paris next month, but at least I'd get that. Money is tight for everyone nowadays. If it's not in the budget, it's not in the budget. But the golfers said they'd pay their own way, and the Dutch Sports Federation said money ain't an issue. They just think these golfers suck too much to wear the flag.

That's VICIOUS. These golfers all qualified for the Olympics but were told, "ya but you'll get your shit shoved in the whole time. No thanks". Which is crazy because it's not like the Netherlands are a powerhouse at the Summer Olympics. You're the Netherlands. People just expect you to bring a bunch of rockets. Nothing more, nothing less.

Also--imagine if Jamaica never sent their bobsleigh team to the 1988 Winter Olympics. We'd miss out on one of the greatest movies of all-time. Thankfully the Jamaican Olympic Committee weren't ran by the same cowards currently running the show in the Netherlands.
