NHL GMs Are Getting Bored As Shit Waiting For The End Of The Stanley Cup Final

Everybody loves a vacation from time to time, but there's really only so much time you can sit on your ass and do absolutely nothing. Eventually you just start getting handed a bunch of tasks to take care of. Maybe the wife wants you to do some shit around the house. Maybe there's a 1st birthday party you don't have an excuse to get out of anymore since you're not busy with work. You enjoyed your time off, but now you're ready to get back into your routine.

That's what the majority of NHL GMs are currently experiencing right now. A lot of these guys haven't had to do shit since April when their seasons ended. They went up to the cottage, they relaxed for a few weeks, but somehow the Stanley Cup Final is still going on. It's been over 2 full months since most of these teams have played a game, and there could still be 5 more days left of this thing.

The boys are getting bored, so yesterday they decided to get after it a little bit.

We had Tom Fitzgerald doing Sheldon Keefe a solid and getting him a legitimate goalie for the first time in his coaching career with this trade sending Jacob Markstrom to New Jersey.

We had Rob Blake dealing with a violent case of buyer's remorse and shipping PLD out of Los Angeles as fast as humanly possible.

I know people are going to shit on the Kings for the return here, but you take literally anything you can get for Pierre Luc-DuBois at this point in his career. He has a no-movement clause that kicks in his contract on July 1, so the Kings had to do something to get his ass out of there before the end of the month. Washington is making the same mistake now that 3 other teams have made in the past 3 years thinking they can change him. But good on Rob Blake for really selling this one saying it was a Kings problem and not a PLD problem. That's elite level foisting.

On the waiver front, there was some shady shit going down between the Rangers and Sharks.

Mike Grier and Chris Drury went to BU together. They spent a season together with the Buffalo Sabres. The word out there is that Barclay Goodrow had San Jose on his no-trade list. So instead of trading him to San Jose, Chris Drury does his guy a favor and just puts him on waivers for the Sharks to sign. THIS LEAGUE!

While all of that was going down, the Flyers and Senators sound like they're working on something to get done before the draft.

Brady Tkachuk for a conditional 4th rounder sounds like a fair deal to me.

The Florida Panthers and Edmonton Oilers are stuck in a series right now after the Oilers sent this series back to Edmonton for a game 6. I'm sure most of the GMs were happy enough to wait a few extra days while it looked like the Panthers were about to sweep their way through this final. But now with all these travel days and no action to watch? The other GMs around the league are tired of sitting on their asses all day long. These guys are addicted to wheeling, and they're addicted to dealing. Almost makes you think that making it to the Final isn't even worth it anymore if you're missing out on all these sweet trades. Bill Zito and Ken Holland have to be sick right now.

Sidenote: This should probably be a sign to the NHL that the playoffs are taking way too damn long. It's almost July here, guys. We should probably have this thing wrapped up by now.
