First Pitch Perfect: The Journey To The Majors (Step Six: College - The Umpire's Call Is FINAL)

So Liam, Intern Jakob, Lucussy, and I headed up to Wisconsin on Wednesday night to throw out the Ceremonial First Pitch at the Madison Mallards game. You can watch the video but they had a lot going on for us (plus we did the 9/9/9 Challenge), and Liam was pouty because A.) they wouldn't let him introduce me and B.) he felt I wasn't focused on the pitch.

Turns out he was completely wrong because I put this one right over the corner of the plate.....

Okay, I'll be honest: does that look like a Strike to me? No, it does not. But I am also not the Umpire. Do you know who the Umpire was?

This guy:

Listen, what am I supposed to do here? When we went to Providence Catholic and the Umpire missed a call, I stood by it and re-did the High School level. Now we're on the receiving end of a bad call and that's called the Baseball Gods rewarding me. Sometimes it goes your way, and sometimes it doesn't. All complaints can be directed towards the trash can because that's where they're going anyways. As I told our head Social Media guy in Chicago, Chuck Naso, on Twitter who was calling this a Mickey Mouse strike….

Wish we could go to the monitor, Chuck! But we can't. Subjective calls are FINAL. We are now looking for an Independent Ball team to keep moving up the ladder to the big leagues.

Oh, and for those interested, Liam and I did a 9/9/9 Challenge. Success meant basking in the glory, failure meant he'd be dressed as a Leprechaun at the next game, and I'd be throwing the pitch out left-handed.

And I'll be throwing the next pitch left-handed.
