Griddles Made A Strong Push To Overtake A Grill In My Eyes On Tuesday
I got a package Tuesday morning and much to my surprise, it was a griddle! Now I had seen a Blackstone griddle recently and wanted to see what #GrillTwitter thought of this device.
I opened up the griddle and put it together in under two minutes. The guys decided to order mainly good ingredients with some random ones and give me a Chopped style assignment to make an edible meal within 20 minutes.
*We had to not use the pineapple as it was not ripe.
We had tortilla wraps, eggs, flank steak, cheese, frozen home fries, and eggplant.
As a fan of the show Chopped, I knew I had to think quickly and go. I decided to start with the mystery ingredient. I chopped it up and got it going in some oil on the griddle. I wanted to neutralize the taste a bit by frying it up a bit. It would be a fair compliment to the home fries.
I also got the flank steak going, but my idea was to cook it very lightly and then put it with the eggs to cook more. But being a decent cook is knowing when to fold 'em and I overestimated how much the griddle would cook the meat.
It was a slower process, so I had to discard the first batch (pictured above) as it was far too raw to taste good in a quesadilla.
But once I got to reset, it all came together. The final product was dare I say, pretty good!
Safe to say, the griddle made a strong first impression! Catch Tuesday's full Yak here:
