Say what you want about JJ Watt, but this is just a savvy move. You're not officially coming out of retirement but you tease it. Keep your name in the mix, everyone gets to talk about how good you were once upon a time and Texans fans can start dreaming. In fact we know what he looks like in a Texans jersey

Now it also makes sense to offer to come out of retirement for a short run when the Texans are arguably the most fun team in the league. It's not like you're going to help out some bum team, you get to play defense for a team that has CJ Stroud at quarterback. You don't offer to come out and get smacked around with Davis Mills and his long ass neck running around out there. You only come back if there's a chance to do something in the playoffs. 

This is how you do it when you're a vet and up there in age. You retire, leave the door open, don't have to do training camp and all that other shit. Just tell them hey I'll come play if you call. Don't even have to play in all the games! Pick and choose what you want to do. I think Watt should come back for another year.
