This Draft Call Between Two College Teammates Warms Your Soul

The Rams had a 1st Round pick for the first time since 2016 and used it on Florida State EDGE Jared Verse. He's an exciting player with a helluva bull rush. And while the Rams needed help rushing the passer off the edge, they also had arguably the greatest defensive player of all-time, Aaron Donald retire this off-season. That's a massive void to fill in the middle of your defense. So in the 2nd Round, they drafted Defensive Tackle Braden Fiske.

What's cool about that is he played at Florida State with Verse. So when teams call players saying they're going to get picked, most of them are pretty cookie cutter. The GM calls the player. Says congrats. Welcome to the team. Family in the background at the player's draft party erupt. You can't hear too much. The phone gets passed to the Coach. He says they're looking forward to working with the player. The player will say something like, "yes sir. can't wait to start!" and then they hang up. The cameras will show the GM and Coach laugh and shake hands or high five. The Draft room will erupt in applause. Then the team's social team will put that all out on twitter.

But this one was different. Fiske starts getting choked up and then Rams GM Les Snead and HC Sean McVay put his teammate, Jared Verse on and the two share a moment. This is unique and awesome and you could tell meant a lot to both players. Kudos to the Rams for setting it up that way. Truly an awesome moment.
