D'Angelo Russell Stunk Up The Joint In A Brutal Lakers Loss And Then Promptly Pulled Out His Cell Phone From The Bench

With the Lakers season on the line tonight, in order for them to finally find a way to beat the Nuggets and snap their 10 game losing streak, it was going to require everyone on the roster to show up. Falling down 0-3 to anyone is a death wish, and when that team is the Denver Nuggets who had owned that ass for two straight years it's something that absolutely cannot happen.

LeBron did his part with an efficient 26/6/9, AD did his with 33/15/3, even Austin Reaves found a way to show up with 22/5/3/4. It looked early like the Lakers were finally going to pull this thing off, especially if DLo also found a way to make an impact. They were 33-5 when leading at the half. When the Lakers are rolling he's usually getting buckets, so how did he do?

YIKES.

Not exactly what you're looking for with the season basically on the line, and honestly this has been a disastrous series for DLo. Just 12 points a game on 32/30% splits, he's been absolutely brutal for a team that just needed something from their point guard in order to keep their season alive. Unfortunately, the Nuggets won by 7 and now own a commanding 3-0 series lead. The Lakers is about as cooked as cooked gets, and even DLo himself knew it

Again I say, YIKES.

I'm not sure how else to describe this other than a beyond terrible look. You can have the game DLo did, where you throw up 0s across the board and then during timeouts you're sitting disengaged from the team on your phone. What an asshole move that is and he's rightfully going to get dragged for it. Be a professional for me one time! Take your loss on the chin like everyone else and then go do this shit in the locker room. This would enrage me as a Lakers fan and I just had to watch that type of performance followed up by something like this. Especially from a guy that's been awful in 2 of the 3 games this series. Whatever type of rallying effort you thought might be coming in a prayer attempt to not get swept, I think we can throw that out the window.

Here's a fun question. Do we think DLo picks up his $18M player option this summer? I feel like the answer there is yes, because who the hell is giving him big time money on the open market? May as well pick it up and then just be cool with wherever the Lakers trade him because you know that's the next step. What, you think LeBron is going to be cool with this? After all he's done at his age only for this guy to stink up the joint and go on his phone on the bench? No chance. He's outta there.

Denver meanwhile, what a wagon. 11 in a row over someone is so ridiculous I don't even know how to comprehend it. That shit simply shouldn't happen. There isn't one random game where you get caught by shooting variance and have a prayer loss? Nope. Instead, we have back to back sweeps (while also sweeping the regular season), because don't get confused, the Nuggets are winning Game 4. We aren't going back to the Mile High until Round 2.

Once the quit factor sets in like we see above with DLo, that's usually a wrap.
