MLB Announces Players Weekend Is Coming Back! But Without The Cool Jerseys And Nicknames.....

MLB can't stop MLBing, they really can't. Yesterday it was announced that MLB will be bringing back Players Weekend. You remember that, teams rock some cool looking jerseys, one year they were all neon, one year all black or white, guys could actually pick their own nicknames to go on the back of their jerseys, could use cool looking bats, have some sick design on your cleats. It was one weekend a year where MLB would let these guys take their hair down and have some fun. It truly was an awesome weekend for baseball, helped get the youths into it and just a really fun idea. So bringing it back was a no-brainer, right? Of course it was, as long as they didn't change anything about it....

WOMP WOMPPPPPPP. Players Weekend is back but without the cool jerseys, no nicknames, none of the fun shit. But they will wear special hats with their uniform number on them! Youthful designs! Awesome stuff! So basically it's not Players Weekend? The joke is right there and everyone made it, Fanatics wouldn't have the jerseys ready in time for the weekend in August, they'd mess up the nicknames, and honestly I don't know if it's that far off. Nike and Fanatics could barely make regular jerseys. Do we trust them to make these bright colored ones with the fun nicknames on it? Probably not. But seriously why do Players Weekend if you aren't going to do the special jerseys and nicknames? Like having a 4th of July party with no hot dogs, Thanksgiving with no turkey, Halloween without any candy. Makes 0 sense. It's not Players Weekend, call it something else damnit!

They will be focusing on different aspects of the players lives throughout the weekend. Things such as "Fun" and "Causes" and "Appreciation". Awesome stuff, we love the fun aspects of the players having friends on the team, the charities they work with, and their appreciation of the people who helped get them there. They are letting them use the specially designed bats and cleats but again, striking out on the jerseys. I don't understand why they wouldn't allow the jerseys to come back? We saw some really cool and fun jersey designs, the nicknames were awesome too, why not let these guys have some fun again? This was another miss for baseball in my eyes, again it's cool to highlight the charities and have the guys show appreciation to the ones who helped them get here but give us the jerseys. We don't care about a hat with their number on it? Just can't get anything right, a real shame. People were pumped for this to come back too and then they ripped the rug right out from under us. Great stuff, Manfred.
