Good Start - New Panthers WR Diontae Johnson Had No Idea Dave Canales Was The Team's Head Coach After Their First Dinner Together

Do I think Diontae Johnson is telling the truth here? Of course. Remember this is the same Diontae Johnson:

Yeah, I'll bet on THAT guy having no idea Dave Canales is the new Panthers head coach? You think he's going to worry about little details like that over a dinner? Of course not. We don't even know what sort of restaurant they were eating at, but it's not hard to get lost in some delicious food. You start zoning out on conversations, you're looking over at other tables seeing what they are getting delivered to try to make up your mind. Last thing you're thinking about is who is this guy sitting by you.

I also get it looking at Dave Canales. He's arguably too good looking to be an NFL head coach. In fact, I don't love the trend the NFL is going with hiring these guys. Canales, McVay, Brian Daboll, Matt LaFleur, all can be described as studs with incredible hair. What happened to the good old boys and how NFL coaches used to look. Guys like this

There are too many unanswered questions here though. First being, who the hell did Johnson think Canales was? Just a random coach or coordinator? He needed to be pressed immediately for that. Second, how the hell do you not know who your head coach was? Finally, why would you ever admit this publicly? I guess he's just trying to get a joke out of it, but when your known as a guy who has given up on plays before, maybe put in a little effort here? Then again, this is the Panthers. It's the one franchise in the NFL you can say this and get away with it.
