The guy with Vince Carter's nuts on his head? Yeah, that's Frederic Weis. The same Frederic Weis the Knicks drafted 15th overall. The same guy the Knicks drafted ONE pick before Ron Artest. Yeah, we hate Frederic Weis. But now he's crying about Joel Embiid deciding to play for Team USA over France and Cameroon. Mind you that Embiid wasn't born in France, he was granted citizenship in 2022, the same time he was granted citizenship in the US.
[Source] - Embiid, who was born and raised in Cameroon before moving to the U.S. in high school, had expressed interest in playing for France as far back as 2018, when he told French newspaper L’Équipe his first choice for international play at the time was Cameroon, but France and the U.S. were options. Embiid has family in the country, but he has never lived in France.
Now let me ask you, if you had the option to play for Team USA or France who would you pick? No-brainer to pick the dominant team. No-brainer to be part of a legendary team. That's what Embiid did. Let France have their Gobert and Wemby duo. After the Knicks/Sixers series ends, I will spend 2 weeks being an Embiid guy since he's on Team USA and that's all that matters in the Olympics.
I take all this back though if Weis is doing this to get in Embiid's head during the Knicks series. Maybe not all of it, but I at least can admire the head games. I don't trust Weis to do that though. Dude declined to sign his rookie contract and again, Ron Artest was right there. Need Embiid to dunk on Gobert in Paris for retaliation. That's the only acceptable outcome.
