Ohio State Athletic Director Gene Smith Said He Went All-In And "Went Berserk" On Financing The Football Program Because They Haven't Won A Championship In Three Years

So I blogged the other day Ohio State reportedly spent over $34 million heading into this season to regain the national prominence we once had under Urban Meyer, and the fans ridiculously went bananas in my replies. Acting like I was spewing some sort of anti-Buckeye hate.

Huh? If you don't think Ohio State was on top of the world with Urban, have fallen not just beneath the top tier but beneath MICHIGAN under Ryan Day, and now it's all hands / dollars on-deck in Columbus until we buy our way out of this problem then you are an idiot. People in the comments saying Ryan Day could lose to Michigan this year and still keep his job. Hey morons, you shouldn't have a job either then....you should be locked up in a mental institution. Ryan Day is on a win vs. Michigan or lose your job type year this season, no other way to put it. And Gene Smith knows it.

I love the word berserk. It's much stronger than crazy. Picture someone going berserk…and now picture Gene Smith doing that with his budget because Ohio State can't beat Michigan.

“I probably put a significant burden on Ross with the budget because I was playing poker with football. Went all in,” Smith said. “Where we are with football and not winning Big Ten championships, I wanted to make sure that we did everything we could to make sure football has a real chance next year.

Buddy said he was playing poker!! I fucking love this mindset of Ohio State this year….go ALL-IN to beat Michigan and win the Natty. But I find it so funny that the fans think if this fails….if Ryan Day gets the best players in the portal, and gets over $10 million a year, and gets the best assistants money can buy….and LOSES, that he will still have a job. No chance. We're All-In.
