Some Idiots Are Trying To Ruin The NCAA Tournament - Recommend It Starts On A Saturday, Home Games For Top Seeds

I like to think I'm someone who is willing to listen to change when it comes to college basketball. I firmly believe we should be playing quarters and there are things like that which could help the game. What I won't listen to are idiotic ideas like this. Move the start of the NCAA Tournament to Saturday/Sunday? Why? They mention it will improve TV ratings and have days to themselves.

Just to be clear that would mean the second round and Elite Eight games would be on Monday/Tuesday. Great idea guys! That's how you drive ratings. Let's change the one thing everyone in the world loves, and get rid of Thursday/Friday first round games. Those two days are national holidays. If anything it's a crime that offices aren't closed those days. No one is working, if you're at work, you're just watching games on your computer.

Then there's the arena aspect. Nope. Not gonna happen. First off, there's nothing better than an entire arena getting behind an underdog that first Thursday or Friday. I still remember being in Philly when 16 seed Albany was giving UConn a game in 2006. You had Kentucky fans, UAB fans, just random people there all going nuts for the Danes. It's how the first round is supposed to be. Not to mention we expect the selection committee to correctly identify the top teams who get home games? Give me a break.

I know people want the two Final Fours in the same location. I get it. It's just nearly impossible. You're adding 4 fanbases to it all. That's an increase in hotel prices, flights, everything else. Not to mention you can only host the Final Fours in certain cities - Vegas, Phoenix, Houston, etc. The best Final Fours are in Indy, New Orleans and San Antonio. You can only do this in a major city and eliminates a bunch of spots. It would be awesome, especially this year, but it's just impossible. There's no feasible way to make it happen.

Again, all dumb ideas. The only idea that we should be changing is getting the Final Four out of football stadiums. I hate it so much. Play basketball in basketball arenas. Simple concept here. That and don't start the title game at 9:20. People hated that. We don't need to reinvent the greatest event in the world. Stop trying to change it, especially when you aren't in college basketball. And don't you dare ever ruin the one thing this country loves. The Thursday and Friday opening round games.
